A UAE residence visa does not, on its own, qualify you for a Turkish e-Visa. Türkiye decides by passport, so many UAE residents enter visa-free, some can get an online e-Visa if they also hold a US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa, and the rest apply for a sticker visa in the UAE. That sticker visa costs AED 225 for a single entry in 2026, according to the Turkish Consulate General in Dubai.

This guide sorts the most common UAE expat nationalities into those three groups, using the visa rules published by Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It then covers the e-Visa conditions that trip people up at the airport, the sticker visa process in Dubai, and the passport-validity rule.

Key Takeaways

  • Türkiye’s e-Visa and visa-free rules depend on your nationality, not your UAE residence.
  • Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Sri Lankan and Nepalese passport holders can get an online e-Visa only if they hold a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa or residence permit.
  • Without that, they need a sticker visa. The Dubai consulate’s 2026 fees are AED 225 single entry and AED 700 multiple entry, with applications handled by VFS Global.
  • The e-Visa route requires a sticker visa (not an electronic one), a return ticket, a hotel booking and USD 50 a day, and it only works at airports.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond the end of your permitted stay.

Why Your UAE Residence Does Not Decide It

Türkiye sets visa rules country by country, by passport. A UAE residence permit is not one of the documents that unlocks its e-Visa. The conditional e-Visa recognizes a valid visa or residence permit from one of the Schengen countries, the USA, the UK or Ireland, and the GCC is not on that list.

That is the main difference from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which both run a visa route for GCC residents. For those two, see our guides to the Saudi visa for UAE residents and the Qatar visa for UAE residents.

What the Egypt airline rule means

Egyptian nationals aged 15 to 45 must also travel with one of the airlines the Ministry names: Turkish Airlines, AJet, Pegasus, Egypt Air or Air Cairo. A cheaper fare on another carrier would void the e-Visa route.

Check the airline before you book if you are in this group. The rule applies even when you hold a valid Schengen or US visa.

The e-Visa Conditions That Catch People at the Airport

Holding a qualifying Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa is necessary but not enough. A Turkish consulate note dated 18 January 2025 lists three more conditions. You need a return ticket, a hotel reservation and at least USD 50 for each day of your stay, and you must enter through an airport, not a land border.

Condition What it means in practice
Valid supporting visa or residence permit Schengen, US, UK or Irish, valid on the day you travel
Sticker visa only Officers recognize valid sticker US, Schengen or Irish visas or Green Cards; other supporting documents are not accepted
Return ticket Carry the onward or return booking
Hotel reservation Carry the booking for your stay
Funds At least USD 50 per day of stay
Purpose and entry point Tourism or business only, entering by air

The consulate note says officers can “only recognize a valid sticker US/Schengen/Ireland visas or Green Cards”. An electronic travel authorization, such as a US ESTA, is not a qualifying visa.

What actually happens at the airport

The airline checks your passport and e-Visa at check-in in the UAE, and Turkish passport control checks them again on arrival. At either point you can be asked for the supporting visa, the hotel booking and the return ticket.

If any of them is missing, the e-Visa does not get you in, and the fee is lost. Carry printed copies, not just screenshots.

Only use the official e-Visa website

The Turkish Consulate General in Dubai warns that the only official website to acquire e-Visas is www.evisa.gov.tr. Look-alike sites charge extra and some never issue a visa.

The Ministry’s own page adds that the e-Visa is valid only when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. Work and study visas go through embassies and consulates.

Getting a Sticker Visa in the UAE

If your passport needs a visa and you do not hold a qualifying Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa, you apply for a sticker visa. The Turkish Consulate General in Dubai says that for all matters regarding visas, applicants should contact VFS Global.

The consulate’s 2021 e-Visa notice names the Gateway/VFS application center in Wafi Mall. Confirm the current center and appointment slots on VFS Global’s Türkiye page for the UAE before you go.

Sticker visa fees for 2026

The Consulate General published its fees for the 2026 fiscal year on 7 January 2026.

Visa type Consular fee (2026)
Single entry AED 225
Multiple entry AED 700
Single transit AED 225
Double transit AED 450

VFS Global charges its own service fee on top of the consular fee. VFS’s UAE pages did not load from our network in October 2026, so we cannot quote it, and you will see it when you book. If you are comparing destinations, our guide to the Thailand visa for UAE residents covers the 30-day visa-free rule that took effect in September 2026.

When to apply

Book the VFS appointment as soon as your dates are firm, because summer and holiday slots fill early. Nepalese ordinary passport holders, for example, get 15-day visas from Turkish missions, so check the length you will be granted before you book a longer trip.

Keep your UAE residence valid well beyond your return date. You are applying as a UAE resident, so an expiring residence permit invites questions at the visa center and on your return.

The Passport Validity Rule

Since 1 January 2015, Türkiye has required your passport to be valid for at least 60 days beyond the duration of stay of your visa, e-Visa, visa exemption or residence permit. The rule comes from Article 7.1(b) of Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection.

The Ministry gives a worked example. A visa with a 90-day stay needs a passport valid for at least 150 days on the day you enter, and a 30-day visa needs at least 90 days.

This catches visa-free travelers too, including UK and US passport holders. Check the expiry date before you book.

Before You Leave the UAE

A trip to Türkiye does not affect your UAE residence while your permit is valid. Check for unpaid fines or cases that could stop you at UAE departure, using our guide to checking UAE travel ban status online. Unlike Türkiye, Armenia and Georgia do let a UAE residence permit stand in for a visa; see our guides to the Armenia visa for UAE residents and the Georgia visa for UAE residents.

If you also plan to visit Europe on the same trip, your Schengen visa may double as your Turkish e-Visa support. Our guide to travel insurance for UAE residents and Schengen visas covers the insurance side.
